VGW Whisker Ceramic WHISKER

Whisker ceramic is a composite material formed by embedding high-strength, single-crystal ceramic whiskers (typically silicon carbide, SiC) into aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃)  ceramic matrix. Its full name is whisker-reinforced ceramic matrix composite. Whisker ceramic cutting tools, prepared based on this matrix, combine the fracture toughness and thermal shock resistance imparted by the whisker bridging effect with the wear resistance and chemical stability of the base ceramic. They are high-performance cutting tools designed specifically for intermittent cutting operations and for machining heat-resistant superalloys, and are widely used in aerospace and automotive manufacturing.

Suitable for high-speed roughing and semi-finishing of nickel-based superalloys, cast irons, hardened steels, and titanium alloys under both dry and wet cutting conditions.
