Gearbox

A gearbox is a core mechanical transmission device that achieves speed regulation, torque conversion, and changes in motion direction through the meshing and engagement of transmission components such as gears and shaft systems. It is widely used in fields including machine tools, construction machinery, wind power, rail transit, aerospace, and automated equipment. Moreover, it serves as the primary machining target for metal-ceramic and cemented carbide cutting tools. The turning, milling, and boring processes required to manufacture its internal precision components—such as gears, shafts, gearboxes, and flanges—place extremely high demands on tool accuracy, wear resistance, and stability.

The machining of gearboxes encompasses a variety of cutting processes, including turning, milling, drilling, boring, gear hobbing, and gear shaping. Among these, cavity milling/boring for gearbox housings, external cylindrical turning/threading for gear shafts, and end-face turning for gear blanks are the core application scenarios for tool usage, perfectly suited to the complementary machining requirements of cemented carbide and metal-ceramic tools.
